"Buy American", "Work Union, Live Better" What do you think?

I laugh when I see these bumper stickers, because I know the person has no clue. I laugh when you see a guy driving a Ford or Chevy truck with "Buy American". Little do they know that only the name is American, but actually 90% built in Mexico. Look around and see what's actually built in America buddy. Not much now a days! "Work Union, Live Better" is another good one. These are the same guys that complain when big business shuts down and goes to another contry. I don't believe in unions and yes I have one where I work, but I am not in it. They are like a mini government that controls you. You want to know why companies go overseas for cheaper labor. It's because if they are doing the same job in 5 years that they did when they started they don't expect to be making $10-$20 an hour more. Think about that, why get payed more for the same job. You should get a cost of living adjustment every year, but not a raise. You should get a raise when you get a promotion with more responsiblity.

Alternate currencies made by citizens might cut out all such necessities. Laser Printers, computer imaging is how.

Well, one does what one can. If an "American Made" car is made 10% in America and 90% in Mexico, and that's the only option we have offered us or left, then you buy that instead of a Korean or Japanese car. No?

As for unions, you need to get behind your union. Sure you have to pay dues, and take home less when you are a union member. But the union economy of the 50s and 60s, before hard times hit in the 70s and 80s, were the US's unparallelled boom time. Unions made that possible, too.

Knowing the history and heritage of labor and unions in the US might change the complexion of this whole issue for you.
