"Cable band detection failed" Olevia 437?

Hi everyone,

I have had my Olevia 437 for well over a year and have had no problems with it until this week when I moved into a new apartment. Previously I have been getting cable from a box and then sending the signal from the box to the tv with the yellow/red/white cables and everything worked fine. But now I am in a apartment were I just plug the cable into the wall, search for channels and go. But when I do "auto search" I get an error message:

"Cable band detection failed. Please search for cable band manually."

What does this mean? I used all the other options to search for channels and none of them find anything. How do I search for the cable band manually? Or is something wrong with my TV? I know there is signal in the wall and that the cord is fine, so what might be the problem?

BTW: The channel search options are HRC, IRC, Standard, and Auto. The Auto Channel Search is the one not working...

Any help appreciated!!!

Thanks!!!!

  1. your screwed

  2. that probably means that it can't accept the specified band that it's searching for. try standard, and make sure its connected to the appropriate wall jack (the one with signal. you can take a multimeter to it to check which it is.) should be good to go. just do a channel scan and they should appear as they are received. good luck!
