  1. yes

  2. 90% of the world population(or more) doesnt even know about a game called cricket.......... YOUR CLAIM ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE

  3. Y so called World Wars I and IInd..?

Do you think all countries in the World participated in

    those wars..?

Is World Champion means defeating all the people in the world..? As U told if one person is excempted, then how we can call anybody as a world champion..?

World's best cricketer makes the sense as World's best film,  actor, director, book etc... etc...more than 99% of the world's literary jobs are not competing for this credit...

  4. Can a hockey world cup be called a world cup, then?

Have you ever heard of something called Rugby world cup?

Sorry to inform that cricket is the second most popular field game after soccer. And more teams are involved in World Cup, but that happens in the background.  Apart from the 9 test playing nations, rest of the teams fight out to fill up the numbers.

ICC is the world governing body of cricket,  and all its member (104 member countries) are part of the World Cup in some way or the other (some play ICC world cup qualifier, and get a place in the World cup)

I'll quote Harold Pinter (2005 nobel prize winner in literature):

"I tend to believe that cricket is the greatest thing that God ever created on earth...certainly greater than s*x, although s*x isn't too bad either."

    Let me add

current population of the world is estimated at about 6.68 billion(link to world population clock - http://www.worldometers.info/population/ ) , in which India, Pakistan & Bangladesh could amount to more than 21.5% of it, that is more than 1.43 billion.

Estimated 3.5 billion watch or play football (soccer), and estimated 3 billion watch or play cricket.

  5. , first of all cricket is the second biggest sport in the world. And population of world is 6 billion lets do the maths.

1.3, billion people in india know cricket

    220, million in pakistan

    160, million in bangladesh

    6 million in germany

    35 million Mongolia

    85 million in Afighanistan

    20 million in brazil

    ect...

there are many more countries that knoo about cricket. More than 4 billion people in the world know the sport cricket. which is more than 65% of the world, know the sport cricket.

    you are dumb.

  6. I refuse to believe your 90% is correct since a country with about 15-20% of the world's population is cricket-mad.

It is much much much closer to a truly world sport than baseball and yet baseball has a 'World Series'.

  7. ur stats r wrong.........

  8. well all the cricket lovers would also admit tht cricket is not a truly global sport ...thts why its not included in the olympics....none of the great sporting nations play cricket..like usa, germany, japan, italy, france, sweeden etc etc etc etc....some people argued tht hockey world cup i then also irrelevant...very funny is tht...all top sporting nations participate in hockey ,its played in the olympics...what lalit exagerrated is with the population statistics i think....also world wars are between the top powers during tht time...no need for all countries to be involved...its so called because of its importance in world history...world champions had to beat the toughest opponents tht their games had to offer...nothing comes as easy as cricket....its also the same in the  world of cinema, arts etc because every country is free to produce films &literature....i think the best cricketing nation dont hv to face  true competition from the major sporting nations which excelled in so many other great sports....for cricket to acchieve such global status its long way to go it seems...i presently reside in frankfurt germany where people will understand baseball, rugby, american football but not cricket...so its not fare to compare cricket with baseball or any other games....thts the perspective from where lalit might have asked...but i think he should not bother in any case...there is nothing to be serious about cricket.....

  9. wonder why it bothers you,..lol,.. frankly,..i think 60% of world population,..will be knowing about these amazing  cricketers,.,.. because ,.. world's most populated area is Asia ,.. i guess i proved my point~

  10. hey MIKE HUNT i live in pasadena (if u know where it is)...i feel the same as lalit_basu2007 does...and u must be living in the slums of india or may be pakistan to be so much enthusiastic abt cricket...lol  & ur comparing baseball with cricket....r u nuts???

  11. that is true considering the cricket powerhouses are the ones that do know wat the game is i guess thats y if a country is good at something they will brag about it but if they're not they will never hear it

  12. the question is not about how much of the population knows about cricket, its about "Cricket World Cup" & "World's Best Cricketer" being the same as before.

whatever anyone says, if a team wins a world cup, it goes down in history, no matter how bad it played during the rest of the season. same is with the best cricketer.

  13. Its true ithink 60% will be knowing
