  1. I could find that same phrase in an article circa 1980.

  2. The U.S dollar has lost about 1/3 of its value since 2000, but still remains the worlds only reserve currency. If the United States dose not control its debt and dose not change its easy money monetary policy's than it may lose its world reserve currency status due to inflation or even hyperinflation. The United States is not in a recession technically (two quarters of negative growth rate), but the U.S economy is in a downturn with high inflation, housing crisis, and the credit crunch. If the U.S dose not change its way than the U.S can be headed for a long and painful recession.

  3. Ed Atun is wrong. The dollar is not the world's leading currency. It is the pound, then the euro, then the dollar. I live in America and the economy and housing market is bad but it is still a well developed country and there are rich people everywhere. It may sound bad on the news but if you come here and see the U.S. it is not as bad as it sounds.

  4. The dollar is still the leading currency in the world.  No recession yet for US economy.  Apple Computer sales have gone up 41% in the first half of this year (i am not an owner of Apple).
