we are doing more to help kids in other countries and not our own? Do you think that people are under the impression we have more opportunities to help ourselves and don't? Or is it because it will get more media attention to help other countries on the US's behalf? Any thoughts?

  1. to many actors and actresses do the same thing, maybe it's for wining more publicity, or maybe it's truly for help... the true is than that's no the best way than we can help....

with some rice you're not gonna take out the hunger of the country... i think than the best way to help it's giving them a job, a nice job in their countries...

  2. Because Kenya is a poor country.

  3. We have a welfare system and a free lunch program. Those countries have nothing.

The welfare system needs to go down.

  4. Everybody should just be happy that money is going to the needy wherever this might be

  5. The USA is, by far, the wealthiest country on Earth. It is also using the largest percentage of Earth's energy resources, by far, more than any other country. Many people in the world see the USA as more than enough resources to help itself.

Some people feel the need to help people who are about to die outside their own country. Why that bothers others, I have never understood. Compassion is *always* good and *always* worthwhile. Whether it's helping local children or children far away, whether it's helping dogs, whether it's helping veterans, I don't care -- good works is always a good thing.

You see your community as only your country. Some people see their community as only their state or city. And some of us see our community as everyone on Earth.

So instead of complaining about someone exhibiting compassion and real philanthropy, why don't YOU focus your energies on helping whomever it is you think should be a priority?

  6. one day when you grow up you ll see that when one makes a good deal of money one needs some negatives for the IRS so that the good ppl at the IRS don't take to much of your money, its very advantageous especially to and  for the wealthy to give charity both financially and from a PR standpoint.

Also I imagine one can buy a larger amount of food and other needs in and for Kenya as opposed to in and for New York.

  7. Let's face it.  Hollywood people aren't the most stable role models on the face of the earth.  They are pretty much brainless lemmings.  What one does they all follow suite.  You have an anorexic husband stealing w***e like Angelina Jolie who wore a vial of blood around her neck and tattoos her body with bizarre sayings adopting children from other countries for publicity so what do the other lemmings do but adopt or steal (in Madonna's case it was stealing), kids from other countries too.

Barrymore is just following another Hollyweird trend.

As for helping starving people, teach them to take care of themselves instead of supporting them.  When people are starving, there's a reason for it.  Throwing money at them solves nothing except to make them more dependent and the ones who run the charitable organizations richer.

  8. As an American who has lived overseas for 15 years in 8 different countries, I can assure you that U.S. Citizens have more opportunities to help themselves than citizens of developing nations.

Even the poorest of American children have access to things that kids in other countries cannot even dream of - free public parks and libraries, free public education, the chance to grow up and vote for their leaders, and indoor plumbing to name a few.

    Good for Drew!

  9. There are more unfortunate children in Kenya who eat only once a day, not even a full meal.  That is why, they are malnourished.  It is good to know that there are people like Drew B. who care enough to share their generous blessings to the needy.  Besides, donations are tax credits.  They can be deducted from the total income tax to be paid by the income earner.

  10. he's nice
