OR

is it a movement, which identified the social constructs and structure of society as the primary cause of gender inequality, ignoring the techno-economic circumstances that casued the particular social structure? Can the positve changes regarding gender equality attributed to feminist movement or the technological and economic development and general changes in culture regardless of feminist movements.

I am not talking about what you define as feminism. People can have all sorts of notions such as "Feminism is about special treatment and rights for women", "Feminism is men hating" and so on.

The question is regarding what is the historical and contemporary deifinion of feminism

  1. Improved technology and the changing economy have had an impact on all social change. However, that's only one component of it. Social change also requires someone to speak for it and identify exactly what needs to be modified.

  2. I will say that generally, it depends on who you talk to.  Some could care less about techno-economic circumstances or anything like that.

Personally, what I desire most on the basis of feminism is a change in perspective, not just on behalf of non-feminists looking in, but on feminists looking out as well.

  3. That would be true, except there is an asterisk, they only care if the opposition to gender equality and sexism affects women. That's what it's always been.

  4. Sure, feminism is merely being opposed to gender inequality and sexism. And also, the KKK are merely being opposed to ethnic inequality and racism.

    Please...

Feminism is an extremist hate-philosophy, based on the continued degredation of men.

It is more properly called misandry.

  5. What I believe is Feminism is only a title of a movement that claims to stand for equality between the sexes; true or not is not important right now; we each have our own views.  However, such a thing as inequality is only seen when one or both parties see themselves as inferior one to the other.  In truth I do not believe in equality between the sexes as is stated here so often. However, I do know that we are born equal, as nature intended.  It's when we start to have self-doubt in ourselves that causes us to feel inferior; it's this inferiority that leads the path to inequality.  In other words Feminism is only a word, a title that can do more than what people allow it to do; its strength is merit upon the strength of those within its folds, as well as its weakness.
