  2. Transitional words. These words help papers read more smoothly.  They provide logical organization and understandability and improve the connections and transitions between thoughts. When you use transitional words in your paper, it makes the paper coherent and allows the reader to flow from the first supporting point to the last. Transitions also indicate relations,whether within a sentence, paragraph, or paper. This list illustrates "relationships" between ideas,followed by words and phrases that can connect them.  

    As an 8th grade Language teacher, I have a huge list of transitional words and phrases on  my wall which helps my students when they are writing papers.
