Question:

"Green" / Eco Christmas gifts?

I was thinking of going green this Christmas and buying enviro friendly gifts for family and friends. I'm also purchasing gifts via charities and NGOs, but I want to give eco products too.

I was thinking carbon offsetting gift cards -- I pay for their CO2 contributions and allow them to go carbon neutral on a small car/pet/daily activity.

Any other suggestions?

(I live in Australia, so local products and organisations would be best)

  1. - Anything from the Product Red Campain (Gap, Motorola, Converse, IPod, etc...)

    - Toms Shoes are a good pick, check them out!

    - You can find really cool recylced mixing bowls at Lapria Shops.com

    - You can also find some nice ideas for plastic bag "alternatives" at Envirosax

This is all I can think of for now but try these websites that I inculded below... ;]

  2. Before going green became popular, I've made my xmas gifts for friends. This year, gathered herbs from gardens of mine and friends and making bouquet garni cloth bags for soups and stews. Pecan fudge and artichoke nut bread. I think carbon off sets are some kind of scam.

  3. stocking stuffers...

recycline toothbrushes are made from recycled yogurt cups and when you're done send them back and they're made into tables!

(for a girl) cargo plant love lipstick, when you're done if you put water on the container and put it into the ground, a bed of flowers grow!

  4. If you want to have a green christmas, wrap all your presents in newspaper! Wrapping paper can't be recycled and so much of it get's thrown out every year that it could wrap around the world three times! Newspaper on the other hand you can recycle and feel good about not wasting!

  5. look up Trevor Baylis Eco Media Player.  its a crank up mp3 player where power can come solely from cranking your mp3 up.  i think that should be eco-friendly enough to be given as a gift.

  6. buy those you are giving to this year- a star!!!! you can purchase a star and name it after your person . the gift is Eco-green and you waste nothing. the certificate is beautiful- so no need for cards and a star has a name. peaceful-huh?
