    Believe it or not, it was Salem's Lot by Stephen King. When the mother slapped the baby and it died, she tried to feed it and the food just ran from the child's mouth. It just hit me that way. If you've never read the book and you do, you'll see exactly what I mean.

  7. Well , one time I was trying to read when it was getting dark so had the book really close to my face and hit my eye with the edge of the page,

    This made my eyes water, does that count ?
