Which term do you prefer to use & why?

I like to say home educated because I don't believe homeschooling should be the public school environment recreated at home XP

  2. I say home educated because the last thing I want to do is school my child. Schools are for fish :-)

  3. I say homeschooled, but we don't copy a public school environment either.

  4. We say home schooled, but only because i started doing this in 1980  and believe me it was a lot harder then to be accepted,  i was once even threatened to be arrested,  i was the first in the county that did it, and they did not like it,

but that said,  Home schooled just worked, it is like such an umbrella term now days,  see with all of the umbrella schools ,  they dont seem like homeschooling to me,  but i guess that is the beauty of it all,  everyone gets to find their own path,

home this helps,  good luck :)

  5. I use the term "home schooled" but it does get confusing for those who are just starting on the journey.   The proof in that statement comes from all the questions in the home school section about public school tutors coming to homes ,  distance learning programs operated by the public schools,  distance learning programs where parents pay dollars for someone to check the work, and   Penn Foster questions.

I think people 'fall' for these programs because they think there is something magical  and mysterious about the learning process and requirements by the state.   If they do  research, they would find that it's easy to learn at home and easy to take charge of their own education.   The diploma is just as valuable as an 'accredited' school and the education is as complete.

So, homeschooling is the term we use but home education describes it best.

  6. We don't use either term, mainly because we're never home!  :D

    All the best.

  7. My parents say 'home educated' and my siblings and I say 'homeschooled'.  Home educated sounds much better, but it sounds a tad snobbish to me. Honestly though, same as with the post above, we were never home so we liked to joke and say we were 'car schooled'.
