The former Lyon forward has voiced his relief at finally managing to find good form at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Real Madrid’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Karim-Benzema-c20350 believes that he has finally found the shape he was aspiring for as he revealed his intention to maintain his currently flourishing form.
The forward particularly mentioned the disappointment that he came across at being unable to make the impact which was expected of him when he was first signed by Los Blancos.
The Spanish giants signed the attacker in the summer of 2009 from French Ligue 1 outfit, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-Lyonnais-c40130. At the time, the striker was believed to be a rare talent and consequently many expectations were attached to his arrival at the Spanish capital.
However, contrary to popular speculation, Benzema failed at making the impact that was expected of him. The player had to endure a loss in form, and as a result he fell lower in the pecking order.
As his first season with Madrid reached its conclusion, the player’s failure at adapting to his new club became imminent.
However, the current season saw a dramatic change in matters as Benzema was made the first-choice forward at Los Vikingos by Jose Mourinho, following a string of impressive performances.
Interestingly, the player’s performance only improved over time as he proved himself to be rather instrumental for Los Merengues.
Finding the back of the net 21 times in the recently passed season’s campaign, the forward has indeed managed to bring a drastic change to his first impression as a Madridsta.
While talking to reporters, the 24-year-old was quoted as saying:
"I'm not the Benzema who arrived three years ago: shy and distracted. Now I am a mature player: serene, calm and physically stronger. I've grown as a player."
"I never neglected this duty, even when I did not play well, and Mourinho also made me work hard to improve at press conferences so that I could reveal a bit more of myself. All of that work has finally paid off."
