mostly regarding time off to respond to goverment wildfire duty and can my employer fire me.

  1. In Michigan, if you are on a call and are late for work, you cannot be punished. However, if you get a call while at work you need to ask your boss and he or she decides whether or not you can leave. They do not have to let you go.

    I'm not sure how this works for extended time off. I'm not sure if it covers if you completely miss work for a day, or for a period of a few days.

    Ask your chief, and let your boss know what's up.  


  2. There is no law. This is entirely up to the discretion of your employer. I have seen some that do, and some that don't.
