"I am not a selfish player" says New York Knicks star Carmelo Anthony - NBA Update
The New York Knicks have found a new sensation in the form of 23 years old point guard Jeremy Lin and that has left the other stars in the team, especially All-Star forward Carmelo Anthony, in a bit of shade.
Ever since the Linsanity phenomena unearthed, there have been questions about the status of Anthony in the team. With Carmelo as the go-to man mostly this season, the Knicks had been struggling to find any sort of rhythm this season
and win close encounters, but with Lin as the man in charge, the Knicks have been literally unbeatable and are currently on a seven game winning streak.
With Lin in the limelight, there have been voices in the media and the NBA fraternity that Anthony is not all too happy at being overlooked and still wants to be the face of the franchise. However, Carmelo was shocked at the accusations
of being ‘selfish’.
"That's like a slap in the face," Anthony said “None of my teammates I've ever played with would say that I was a selfish player. Nobody."
"It's a tough situation. I'm human at the end of the day, so it's like d**n, where is this coming from?" Anthony said. "I know I'm not a selfish player. People around me know I'm not a selfish player. I do everything I can to make
people around me understand I'm not a selfish player."
Anthony was instead all praise for Lin.
"Jeremy Lin was a blessing in disguise for us," Anthony said. "He fell down from upstairs for us in the situation that we've been looking for a guy to take over that position”
The small forward, who has been out of action since February 6th due to a right groin injury is all set for a comeback in the game against Dallas Mavericks and believed that his presence would only be good for the young
guard as he would take some pressure off him.
After waving off Chauncey Billups in the pre-season, the Knicks have been looking for a solid point guard and Lin’s emergence will not only stretch the court for Anthony, but will also go a long way in increasing the effectiveness
of Amare’ Stoudemire at the power forward position.
