  1. A dress that is cut close to the body usually makes women who are petite look taller.  For example, a sheath is often a good option for petite brides.

    As for colors, there are many different shades of white (diamond white, cream, ivory, etc) so she may end up liking one of these shades of white. Or she can go with a color. Light pink, lavender and gold are good options.

  2. are you talking about you being small or the bride?

    I am 5ft tall and am getting married, I haven't started looking for a dress yet but I have an Idea of what I would suit.

    Definitely an A-Line shaped dress for me

    any dress that is body skimming will only suit a tall slim body.

    a dress with detail on the upper half of the body will draw more attention upwards

    I here Avril Lavinge is a very small lady and she looked perfect in her dress;

    I think the key is in the accessories, a small bouquet of flowers is best as a large bouquet will look to much and drown the dress.

    I am looking for something like this which is plain and simple, this is my dream dress;

    I think you should look at this website, it has a great range to suit a small figure;

  3. The world is this girl's oyster.  Forget about her height, concentrate on her shape and let the wedding experts decide on the style of dress.  Most wedding shop assistants have great expertise.  Unless the groom is small she doesn't need to be 5 ft tall.  Comfortable 6" heels do wonders. My daughter was bridesmaid to a friend 5' ll" and the bride looked absolutely amazing.   Her height was never an issue and she was one of the most beautiful brides I have ever seen. Look like a monkey in a white dress? Never!!!

  4. David's bridal has petite sizes.

  5. Monkey?

    Go to a wedding gown boutique and they'll recommend gowns based on body type and height properly. It depends on the body type as well.

    It doesn't matter that she's 5 feet tall. My aunt is 4"10 and looked beautiful next to her 6'2 husband in a gown.

    All the best.

  6. Who's the monkey?  The bride? You?

    An empire waist might make a monkey look taller

  7. I am 5ft and ended up getting a bodice and a full A line skirt.  It was great as made me look fabulous!!!   Tell her to go to a good wedding shop to get some ideas and browse online once she has a preferred make.  Tell her not to eat too many bananas before the big day......

    :o)

  8. Hi,

    this is Sophie and I am a wedding planner.

    First of all, a monkey??? No.

    Here is what you have to answer on your own:

    What kind of dress do you feel great?

    - is it long?

    - is it short?

    - do you rather wear pants?

    OK, now if you know what looks great on you and what you like to wear, you know what kind of wedding dress you can get.  If you like big and puffy - that will make you look shorter, but if that is what you like, get that!

    I would suggest you to look for A- line OR mermaid style. Buy comfortable high heals and make sure you like you dress, because beauty comes from the inside!

    Good luck!

  9. I'm 5' tall and I got married last year and wore an a-line dress.

    Here's my advice..

    * Try on every style.  DO NOT be picky and stick to just one style because you never know.

    * Don't listen to people that will say things like short girls can't wear mermaid or column dresses--that's wrong.  A properly cut and fit dress will look fabulous on a shorter bride.  In most cases, mermaid dresses look great.

    * Wear heels--they'll elongate your legs a bit.

    * Think about your neckline.  A more open neckline will elongate your neck and add the illusion of height.

    * Don't go too heavy on detail.  Shorter brides can get lost in too much detail and overpower.

    * Where what you feel comfortable in.
