"I think to do it, the guys actually have to believe it can happen," says Buster Posey
San Francisco Giants' catcher Buster Posey did well in the last and decisive game of National League Championship Series on Monday against the St. Louis Cardinals.
He coordinated well with Giants' starter Matt Cain and together they showed great offensive plays. Posey did well behind the plate and kept his cool during the last stages of the play as well.
"I think to do it, the guys actually have to believe it can happen," Posey said after winning the game against the St. Louis Cardinals on October 22 at AT&T Park in San Francisco, California.
He added with more detail and explained about his team’s great effort which confirmed their place in the World Series final, "We've made a lot of good memories so far, We still have a lot of work to do. I think those first two or three innings were probably the turning points of the game, Because if they get on the board quick and get a little momentum, it could be a different game. I think Matt did a great job of shutting them down."
Along with these comments, Posey also did well on the plate as he added one run and smashed one hit on four at-bats. He played confidently and maintained his slugging percentage at .154.
His performance has also remained quite consistent throughout this season. Currently he is playing at .336 hitting average along with 24 homers, 103 RBIs and .408 OBP.
"What I've learned is we've got a special group of players over on our side who have overcome a lot of obstacles," Mike Matheny said.
Not only Posey but all the Giants' batters played well and proved too good for the Cardinals. Angel Pagan started well with his one run and two hits along with one RBI. He batted five times and maintained his slugging percentage with enormous consistency of his.394 slugging percentage.
It was a total team effort in which every Giants' players contributed and earned a great victory for their team. Now Giants are preparing to face the Detroit Tigers in Game 1 of World Series on Wednesday, October 24.
