http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 head coach, Pep Guardiola, has expressed that if the Catalan giants are unable to retain the Spanish title, it would not be due to errors made by the match officials this season.
The Spaniard attempted to clear a misconception regarding the Spanish giants, claiming that it would not be the fault of referees if the current Spanish champions have to surrender the Spanish La Liga title to Real Madrid.
The Catalans were found accusing match officials earlier in the season and almost made the matter sound like a conspiracy when they blamed referees to have taken critical decisions against them.
La Blaugrana currently trail Los Blancos by 10 points at the top of the Spanish Primera Division standings.
The Spaniard conceded that the gap between the top two teams in the table exists because Los Blancos demonstrated better football. However, he also stressed that it was not due to the impact that match officials made on Barca’s league campaign this season.
The 41-year-old did admit that it was initially his own team’s failure. He commented that the 10-point gap at the top is a failure on La Blaugrana's part and they are primarily responsible for slipping in the league.
According to Marca, the Spanish tactician was quoted as saying:
"Regaining lost points in the league is not easy. If we are not first at the end of the season, it will not be the fault of the match officials. The first reason is that we have failed.”
"I really believe that there is little chance of winning the league now. We have won 13 of 16 matches and obviously we will continue to compete until the end but it seems unlikely. The distance is very large and serious catching up to this Madrid is very
complicated. "
The Catalans will entertain Sporting Gijon in their next league game which will take place at the Nou Camp on Saturday.
