"I’m tired of football, can quit anytime": Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez
Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez has confessed that he has disappointed with the tiring football schedule and may well quit any time.
The inform Eastlands striker is one of the many premier league players who have been affected by the stresses of playing too much football. Tevez has admitted that playing the game has taken its toll on both his mind and body and doesn’t know how long he can continue like this.
Tevez turned 26 this February and for him to give such remarks is a shocker for all. The player has claimed that it is because of his 100% percent commitment on the pitch that his mind and body are drained and would want to quit. This is not for the first time that the Argentine has expressed his desire to walk away from the footballing World, as he hinted his frustrations with the game this summer. Tevez, after returning from the World Cup, claimed that he may well want to quit from the game, after not finding the charm to return to his club for a new season. Yet, out of the millions spent by Manchester City over the past two years, Tevez remains the club’s best performer and was awarded the skipper’s armband by manager Roberto Mancini was his outstanding contributions for the club last season. City finished 5th last season and it was Carlos Tevez who stood out for the entire season. In a total of 42 appearances last season, Tevez scored 29 times in all competitions and was thus handed the captain’s armband.
This season, Tevez has appeared in all 7 fixtures of the premier league and has scored 5 times. His single goal was enough to sink Chelsea’s 100% win record, when these two sides met two weeks ago. However, the fame and fortune has done little to uplift the player’s spirits and Tevez still aims to one day walk off from the pitch and hang his boots.
"I have been playing many games this season, and my body is feeling it. I am tired. I started to play when I was really young and I have always fought so much but now I'm feeling the effort.”, claimed the 26 year old Argentine.
Tevez added that he feels old now and have seriously started to think of quitting. The player outlined that the hectic schedule has drained his energy and has thus become more irritant and less tolerant of the man he used to be a few seasons ago.
"Then I think - what happens if I quit football as long as I am okay in my life? When I talk about quitting, I mean quitting football, not just the national team. But at the moment I still don't know if this is going to be in one month, one year, three or five years,” explained the Argentina International.
The Manchester City skipper added that the idea of quitting has not left his mind and can one day unexpectedly hang up his boots from all sorts of football. The player claimed that even his family has started to feel his stress and doesn’t know how long his body can take the pressure. Tevez explained that he has worked so hard to reach this level and would now want to enjoy every playing minute. But that is not the case and since his arrival in England 5 years ago, the striker has not spent a single Christmas or New years with his family back home. The player concluded his statement stating that he was not enjoying living the footballer’s dream and expected much less pressure and stress than what he is getting right now.
