  1. Well, to me, it sounds like the quote means, you will get plenty of opportunities. Let me break the quote down for you. For instance if Opportunity was a field to grow crops, you would always be plowing.

  2. Basically what it is saying (at least to me, it is) is that when opportunity knocks, it is there for the taking......   Say a farmer owns fields or a farm..... If a farmer's fields are full of corn ready to be harvested, and wheat.... or what have you.... it's not the time to sit around and go .... eh.... I'll pick the corn next week......... it's time to pull up the boot straps and get out there in the hot sweltering weather to sweat and reap in all the goods..... to plant more seeds to bear more ears of corn.....

Likewise.... if there are opportunities for you to grow or that'll benefit you in the long run, open for the taking (education.... a job promotion opportunity)..... you don't just sit around and say.... ehhh.... I don't feel like working hard.... eh.....  I'll do it later..... (like a full scholarship, all expenses paid education....), then you go for it..... because if you don't take that full scholarship.... or that promotional opportunity (at work).... well, someone else will.... because then your opportunity (which you end up turning down) becomes another person's opportunity for the taking.... that's what the quote is saying....

    Get the idea? =]

Another example is.... let's say that your teacher gives you an opportunity to earn extra credit..... that's an opportunity for you to show your teacher that you care.... that you like challenges.... that you put effort into the work..... Or let's say that she give you a paper to write.... that's an opportunity to show her that you know how to do research, that you know how to organize all your information... that you know how to write well..... Or like a test or quiz..... again, that's opportunity to show your teacher that you are keeping up with your work/studies, that you studied hard... that you know your stuff.... =]  Sometimes homework, tests, papers and quizzes can seem "ugh", but believe it or not, they are little opportunities for you to "strut your stuff" to get a good grade in school! =)
