"Incredible, I'm still numb," Bruce Bochy said after ousting St. Louis Cardinals in NLCS
The San Francisco Giants manager Bruce Bochy is happy about his team’s performance against the 2011 World Series Champions St. Louis Cardinals on Monday, October 22 at AT&T Park in San Francisco, California when they ousted them 9-0 in the Game-Seven and
final game of National League Championship Series and qualify into the World Series seven-match finale against the Detroit Tigers.
"Incredible, I'm still numb,” Giants manager Bruce Bochy said
Tigers had already qualified into the World Series after they defeated the New York Yankees 4-0 in American League Championship Series.
“We've made a lot of good memories so far, We still have a lot of work to do," catcher Buster Posey said on his team’s overall great outing.
Posey added, "I think those first two or three innings were probably the turning points of the game, because if they get on the board quick and get a little momentum, it could be a different game. I think Matt did a great job of shutting them down."
In Monday’s game, the Giants’ starting rotation truly outshined the entire Cardinals batting rotation. Matt Cain seized the moment and showed his one of the best post season performances. He held it tight all the Cardinals’ hitters and kept them under pressure
during the entire game.
He pitched 5.2 solid innings and proved one of the winning factors for the Giants. Striking out four, he received only five hits with no runs on his exceptional 2.19 consistent ERA.
“The energy that the stadium had today was awesome, I think we really fed off that," Cain said
Not only Cain, but the entire Giants pitchers played with big energy and literally won the game for their team.
Relief pitcher Jeremy Affeldt pitched 1.1 innings as he too finished with great numbers. He did not allow any run or hit and struck out two with great consistency.
Santiago Casilla also did well as he received two hits only on his 0.2 innings’ spell. Giants closer Javier Lopez pitched during the closing moments of the game and could have received runs but he kept his cool in the end and pitched with great accuracy.
