Ok, technically all laws of ettiquette and manners usually indiate that you don't say anything to a pregnant woman unless she has verbally confirmed to you that she is infact pregnant. I mean, she could have had the baby 2 months ago and not gone back to normal body type yet.

Or, she could have thyroid or gallbladder problems that give her a large swollen stomach.

I find its only men, but I literally cannot go ANYWHERE without guys saying "Is it twins?" "No, it's not." "Are you sure?" "Yes, I'm sure." "It might be twins! one might be hiding..." "ITS NOT F-CKING TWINS"

Since when is it appropriate to insistantly imply that I'm much larger than I rightfully should be, especially when you don't know how far along in my pregnancy I am.

Just wondering. Do you guys get asked this also?

  1. Quite a few ppl asked me this, but my boy was 10lb 9oz when he was born so my belly was huge.

  2. My old best friends mom had a thyroid problem and people ALWAYS asked her when she was due, it really makes her mad, which is understandable, what you need to do is scream at them and say "quit calling me fat" it will totally embarrassing them, even though you aren't fat, you're just pregnant, and it makes them look bad. lol.

  3. No. I get all the time - you don't look pregnant at all! And then, some people ask me when I am due. It's INSANE. Which one is it?

    This is me:

I'm not the biggest pregnant woman on the planet, but I certainly look pregnant.

People have the oddest things to say to pregnant women. I'm not sure if they are trying to make you feel better or what.

  4. You are right, people are just rude.  I don't get the twins comment (yet) but I do get the "You are gaining weight all over, it must be a girl."  In fact, it's a boy - and since when is it okay to tell someone she looks fat all over??

Also I used to work in a maternity store and many women with medical conditions had to shop there - so even working there I knew not to just "assume" someone was pregnant!

  5. There just don't seem to be boundaries anymore!  I am expecting twins . . . so I don't have the exact issue that you do BUT my husband's boss said to me when I was 7 months pregnant "WOW, you must be due soon!!!"  Excuse me?  Due Soon?  I still have months to go!  BLAH!

Best wishes for a happy & healthy pregnancy!

  6. I am 30 weeks and I get the same thing wow you are huge are you having twins NO dangit lol, oh well that is going to be a big baby I would love to scream at them I just smile and cringe lol..

  7. I don't mean to offend, but I think you need to chill a bit. Maybe the men that ask you if it's twins are being polite, making conversation. I think maybe you're reading too far into it.

Maybe the real reason you're getting irritated is because your taking it completely the wrong way. Not everything a guy says should have relevance to you being fat. Although I'm sure most women can find some pedantic reason to make any statement a guy says as offensive or sexist.

  8. i hate that!! and they have to keep going are you sure are u sure!! i get so mad and like im not hormonal and insecure as it is they have to make it worse dont they!! ugh ugh ugh i have only gained 10 pounds and am almost in my 7 month!! i hate it

  9. I'm only 6 months as of next week and people are already saying that to me....probably because I look bigger because I started out small.  Plus my bf and I are both sets of twins.

It is pretty rude of them to ask though!

    This was last Saturday.

  10. some people are just so flipping rude and nosey.  It will never change, what the rest of us have to do is rise above it and be the better person.

I would absolutely DIE if I got it wrong about a pregnancy!!!

  11. I get asked this a lot, and I'm only at 11 weeks!  I was quite slim before I fell pregnant, and for some reason I've just bloated up like the Michelin Man.

As a rule of thumb: never ask a lady whether or not she is pregnant unless you see an ACTUAL baby exiting her v****a at that very moment.  Otherwise, it is just rude.

  12. Just try ignore it, it's ignorance. Especially when people insist.

Although, i have told people their "big" before, then i further implyed "healthy bubby!".

I hope nobody took it the wrong way :S

My friends mum isn't "fat" but she isn't skinny.

She was once asked if she was pregnant, she said "oh no way."

the friend was like "yes you are! look at that belly!"

    "No I'm not.."

"Don't hide it from me! When are you due?"

    "I'm not pregnant?!"

    "Boy or girl?"

"IM NOT ******* PREGNANT YOU COW."

    and she stormed away.

i thought it was so rude of the woman to insist!!

    :) Brie.

  13. I was asked that a few times in my pregnancy and it was so annoying but at one point all I could do was laugh.  I had a week and a half to go before my due date and in the OB office this older lady tells me that it looks like I'm pregnant with twins.  I told her I wasn't and she said you could be and not know it.  I laughed at her and said I am due in like a week I think I would know if it were twins and I think I would be a ton bigger!  So funny cause she shut up after that.

  14. i thought i was the only one everywhere i go people keep asking me if I'm having twins especially now that I'm 36weeks not only do they ask me if I'm having twins but people feel the need to tell me that i look like I'm about to pop when i tell them i still have four more weeks they look at me like I'm a huge freak or something... I'm sorry i am a small girl i am only 5'1" and i am all baby so yea its gonna look a little funny but that doesn't mean that people can make me feel fat. I'm not fat I'm pregnant...

  15. I have been asked that since day 1.

Even family asked, I mean now they don't because I'm 32 weeks and I'm only having a girl. But It is aggravating!

  16. i asked when a waitress was expecting and she wasn't. i felt so guilty i tipped her a lot extra and learned my lesson. sorry.

    12/22 is my birthday!!!

  17. I get asked that all the time! It's so d**n annoying, and it makes me feel fatter than I already do! Since I am so close to my due date, I just scowl at people when they ask me that! I know it's not very nice, but hey, neither is some stranger making me feel fat!

  18. I got asked that too. Lots of women do, as far as I know.

p.s. your son is due on my birthday!!
