  1. i think if i had 110 pounds of gold i'd find something else to do with it.  any metal cast sculpture is very labor intense and i'm just not that industrious.

  2. Makes me wonder just how long it will last before being melted down for other use.

  3. I hope someday people will love me enough to make a solid gold sculpture of me.

  4. I think it is art, plain and simple. I resent the guy for being gluttonously wealthy but to make an entire life size sculpture o ut of solid gold almost shows a contempt, at least a disrespect, for what we regard as valuable. That sculpture could feed and protect many unfortunate people this very day, perhaps there is a deeper message here???

  5. Different strokes for different folks!  Don't idolize anyone in particular who I would sculpt with solid gold.  It makes a statement for his art, no doubt.  Now maybe if he had used platinum gold, maybe that will be next.

  6. A BIG waist of money.

  7. As an art piece I find it only valuable because it is made of gold.  In terms of artistic merrit and in terms of advancing issues in sculpture and contemporary art it's worthless and recitivistic.

  8. Let me get this straight...a 110lb statue worth 2.8 million dollars...I find it very ironic, and hillarious.

For starters...the statue probably outweighs her by 30lbs or so.

And when I see Kate Moss and $2.8 million dollars in the same sentence, I automatically think the subject is referring to her cocaine habit...b/c I figure she spends atleast twice that a year on her addiction.

    Am I alone in this?
