  1. Example:  Well, let's look at Iraq -The U.S. got into that war by invading a country it had no real reason to invade (where were the WMD?).  Now look at how hard it is to get out; Iraq is a mess and the U.S. has to figure out a way to get out and save face and not cause more upheaval in an already volatile nation.

    Same with love - You can fall in love easy or get into a relationship easy but if for some reason it doesn't work out it is not always easy to get out of it.


  2. It's a ( slightly mis- ) quotation from Henry Mencken.

    Very roughly  - falling (and I do mean falling ) in 'love' is easy. Oh so easy. Breaking up (and I do mean breaking) is so hard that a Mohs scale doesn't cover it.

    Beginning a war is easy - having a satisfactory exit strategy isn't.

    [I think the point of the quote is 'don't begin a war unless you know what you are going to do if you win', but that is only opinion.]
