"Le bonheur ne vient jamais comme on l'a imagine"

Does anyone know who said this quote?

Also, is "Happiness never comes in the way that we imagine" an accurate translation of the quotation?

**ps. i know imagine should have an accent on the 'e', I just couldnt figure out how to do it on here. sorry!

  1. The translation is OK.

I don't know who said it. I don't believe it, either.

Cf. Vauveargues: "Beaucoup d'hommes vivent dans le bonheur sans le savoir." [Many men live happily without knowing it." It's not quite the same, but it's related.

    F. Scott Fitzgerald said somewhere that a short story to work must resolve itself in an unexpected way. This also sounds connected, but I am free associating, not remembering quotes.

  2. Yes the quote says that "happiness never comes in the way you imagine it"... I like that quote, it is cool...
