Question:

"Limit your brochure" - Why ?

This statement stands for the following phrase:

"When you consider the number of visitors hosted at popular tourist attractions every year, you can see what a waste of paper one brochure per person really is. Don't take a brochure unless you really need one. Then return it so someone else can use it."

What do you think about this problem?

Why should people not waste paper?

What does the waste of paper result in?

  1. From my understanding, over 50% of trees harvested today are for paper pulp, a staggering amount if you ask me.  This puts undo stress on our natural forest resources, and the associated practices, which if not functioning properly (sedimentation and erosion control, regeneration, road and trail building, stream crossing, etc) will lead to the deterioration of our natural ecosystems even further than they currently are.

Using undo amounts of paper also results in it eventually finding much of it ending in a landfill.  Not everyone who takes a brochure home is going to keep it forever, and those that get rid of it are not all going to recycle it or reuse it.

Paper processing is also a very toxic and chemical intensive process.  Much of this ends up in our streams, rivers, and lakes.

Reducing our use of paper is a win for the environment, and for our culture's drive towards an anti-waste mentality.

  2. But you are aware about the place by the brochure isn't it ?

  3. Waste not want not.
