Question:

"Linksys" popup when I start my Mac?

I have a Mac running OSX. Recently, every time I start up my computer I get a popup that says "None of your trusted wireless networks can be found. Would you like to join the open wireless network named "linksys"?" I keep clicking "no" and it pops up again the next time I start up.

I hate this thing! How the h**l did it get on my computer and how do I get rid of it?

  1. Hello Heather L,

You could check your System Preferences.  Under the System heading, click on the Accounts icon.  It might be listed under the Login Items tab inside there.  Simply delete that and it won't bother you at start-up.

The Mac automatically tries to connect you to the next fastest method.  If it detects the Linksys, it will try that first.  I'm not sure how your Internet set up is for your particular household.  If you go up to the Apple menu and down to location, select the type of Internet connection you prefer and it will always go to that.  Best of luck.
