Question:

"List four properties of a community and explain the importance of each"... WHAT?!

Okay, I'm doing AP Biology Summer Homework, and that question is confusing me, because in the length of a 24 page (like 8 font) chapter on Community Ecology I cannot find any "four properties." I assume they mean interspecific interactions (Predation, competition, commensalism, mutualism)... but I'm not sure. Help?

  1. Community properties in ecology texts usually refer to things like:

    abundance

    diversity

    complexity

    biomass

    richness

    productivity

    stability

The concepts you're describing usually are grouped under "interactions", not properties.
