That's the view of Steve McManaman, speaking on Setanta Sports prior to Liverpool's opening fixture away to Sunderland.

Are you kiddin me?? Liverpool has, in my opinion, 2 world class players.. Gerrard and Torres...Xabi is not so far behind either other than that...there team is good but not the best...I would say Chelsea has the best team...Ballack, Drogba, Essien, Terry, Cech and now Deco...Watch out Devils

They are nowhere near winning the prem and I knew that before the season started.

On their day they're great, but consistent teams win the league and Liverpool are not a consistent team

I disagree even though I am a Liverpool supporter. They sure look good on paper but I just hope they find their form early to help out their cause later in the season. Chelsea have a nice side as do those boys in Man U.

If they had the STRONGEST out of the whole of the prem , and they manage a 1-0 win over a sunderland there about as strong as a box full of kittens

even as a Chelsea fan , id say we have the best squad SO FAR , biggest win in the opening day of the prem , but like i say that was the first game , alot more to go

Liverpool have a good squad although you can't say it has much dept as Chelsea or Man Utd, Arsenal are looking good again it should be a close season not too mention some of the other teams.

Chelsea and man u have the most expensive team for sure- as for the best this season only time will tell, on paper there is no way Liverpool have the best team, but that means nothing, the team that gains the strongest addiction to winning will probably win and there is a lot of teams in that race still! maybe over the next few months a teams players will shine through and gain stature or maybe its going to be a really close battle this season

With a midfield as strong as Chelsea's i don't think so, i think he may have just got a little over excited!

Steven B - having the strongest squad doesn't mean you will score the most in fact it would prove you had a strong squad more if you were losing 2-0 with 10 minutes to go and made a couple of subs who changed the game to get you a 2-2 draw!

I disagree with west ham til i die and sadly about liverpool having the strongest team. I think Chelsea do because they are amazing in defence and have a fantastic and well experienced midfield. Maybe a world class 25+ goal a season striker would do but Drogba is good enough.

i think so far chelsea have the better squad since the transfer market opened. Liverpool bought keane but i dont think he will adopt to football there because torres shoots and doesnt pass much.i also think if United get Berbatov they will get some more goals in since ronaldo will be out for 2 months
