i bought a box of "loose tea" thinking it would be the leaves, but it isnt leaves, it´s kind of like little flakes of tea, not quite a powder, but almost. anyway, i wanted green tea, hence the leaves, can i make green tea by just not adding milk?

but when i bought green tea bags, the drink was a different colour from this made with the "loose tea"

  1. The color is different because it's not as strong. You can make green tea just using a tea bag, it's no difference but the strength and that the ground-up leaves don't get stuck in your teeth.

  2. try out http://subtleteastore.com/

they have a great selection of all types of tea. if you  send them an email, i'm sure they can accommodate you:)

  3. You probably bought regular black tea. They sell loose green tea in tins in tea stores and gourmet shops, as well as some major grocery stores.

Green tea is heated in some way to destroy the enzyme that naturally makes tea turn dark brown/black during the drying process. Adding milk to it has nothing to do with it.

The difference between the two is the taste, color, and health benefits - while black tea has certain antioxidants that help the body, green tea has others, probably due to the destruction of the enzyme discussed above.

  4. Try finding the tea at a chinese or indian store... the brooke bond red label is red, and green label is green and there is also a yellow label..  all loose tea you can put in your own cup and brew
