"Maybe unrealistically we all wished he could be ready," says Diamondbacks’ manager Kirk Gibson
The Arizona Diamondbacks’ manager Kirk Gibson is hoping that the 2012 Major League Baseball season will be a good one for the team.
However, his late comments in the media are giving the impression that the Diamondbacks might not there fully where they wanted to be before start of the season.
"Maybe unrealistically we all wished he could be ready," Gibson said.
His further comments were related to Diamondbacks shortstop Stephen Drew who was so influential in the latest Spring Training saying Drew "didn't come along as far as we had hoped. We want him to be an everyday guy, but it's not going to happen right away.
You've got to say what's best for the team. Would it be better to have Stephen Drew be able to play two out of three days or wait until he could play every day?"
Leaving behind Drew only, the rest of the roster is giving somewhat confidence to their manager. Gibson has come a-long with the South Arizona based baseball franchise and knows his chances this time around. His overall preparations for the 2012 MLB season
are satisfactory which often coming on the cost of several young players who will not be part of Diamondbacks’ roster this season. Gibson was certain to give another chance to their senior players who have disappointed with their performances and lost too
many games from averaged sides last season.
Gibson in particular is happy for his centre fielder Chris Young, who has been playing tremendously during the 2012 Spring Training. Gibson has also praised his game and appreciating the way he is playing.
Gibson said, "He's swinging the bat great, I think he's better equipped to hit all pitches at different speeds. He's going to be much harder to defend. He's had a great spring."
On the whole the Diamondbacks along with its manager Gibson are feeling quite comfortable and going into the new season with a new hope to achieve consistent and good results. Experts believe if the things went according to the plan of Gibson, the Diamondbacks
will be finishing top somewhere in their own division.
