I just got the denon avr-1908 receiver and have everything set up...but I have my ps3 hooked up with an HDMI cable but when I use the receivers menu to display the audio input it says the input is "Multi Ch direct" and the signal is PCM, with a "fs" of 48hz.

I don't think these settings are ideal are they? Shouldn't it be Dolby Digital 5.1, or DTS, and the signal should be lpcm with a higher hz?

My options for audio on the ps3 is Linear PCM, and bitstream, i have it set as linear pcm...

  1. Multi-Ch direct is the best quality settings - it means you are using the uncompressed tracks (linear PCM).  You can get Dolby/DTS is you switch to BITSTREAM - but they are compressed.

On regular DVDs I believe 48hrz is the highest available.  Blu-Ray is up to 192hrz

Make sure you elect DTS-HD, DOLBY-HD or Uncompressed soundtrack on your DVD menu!
