According to the CEO of Borussia Dortmund, Hans-Joachim Watzke, it was a mistake by Nuri Sahin to have joined Real Madrid in the summer.

He claimed that the Turkish international needs more time on the pitch, as he needs to grow as a player, and Dortmund would have provided him with such an opportunity.
Watzke maintained that since the current Real Madrid possesses some of the best midfielders in the world, it is very unlikely for a youngster like Sahin to find a spot in the starting eleven.
He also heaped praise on the Turkish midfielder, suggesting that there is no doubt that he will go on to become a great player.

The midfielder played a crucial role in BVB’s Bundesliga triumph in the 2010-2011 season.
The Turkish international made a total of 33 league appearances for the German club, out of a total of 34, scoring 6 times and further aiding the team with 8 assists.
Due to his tremendous performance for Die Schwarzgelben, Sahin was voted as the Bundesliga player of the season in 2011.
Despite being an important member of the squad at Dortmund, the 23-year-old has found it hard to find a first-team place at his new club.
During his first season with the Spanish giants, the Turk has rarely featured in competitive fixtures. Injury problems and lack of form have constrained the player from performing at his best.
While talking to Bild, Watzke quoted:
"Nuri's transfer to Real was a mistake. It would have been better for him if he had stayed with us. But Nuri is a fighter. A return is currently not an issue."
Currently Borussia Dortmund are focused on their next match as they face Werder Bremen on Saturday.
