It`s not like I`m catching feelings for you.

Baby, I`m caught.

I`m so in love with you.

You got me by the hook.

I'm off the hook in love with you.

How can I fight this feeling?

I know I should be fighting these feelings.

It`s not easy fighting these feelings because I`m caught, and

I`m off the hook in love with you.

--------------------------------------...

In the urban areas of NY, NJ(and other parts of the USA) "off the hook" is a slang phrase used to express the extremity of an emotion.

ex. That woman sleeps with lots of men. She`s off the hook nasty-She`s very nasty.

That outfit fits me really well. That outfit looks off the hook on me.-That outfit looks outstanding on me.

What I did in this poem was, I incorporated the slang meaning with the metaphor of a fish who is caught on a hook!

  1. I thought it sucked

  2. Your explanation helped me to understand.  That to me means that perhaps setting it up more "off the hook"  would help before you got into the gist of your words.  Just a thought.  The other extreme is to just speak in the dialect of the area or street and let the reader try to understand.

Edit: Your avatar has a nice style.

  3. Love it. Stay Strong. Not enough slang these days, its a beautiful language, because they make little to no sense. Haha.

  4. its very nice and i liked it very much but i think it would be better if you re-post it with out the explanation
