"Operation Scheduled Departure" good idea or waste of money?

Wanted: Illegal immigrants with clean records who have ignored court orders to leave the country. Immigration officials are standing by to help you leave the country. No jail. No joke.

Personally, I think this is a real waste of money. I've actually heard tale of some people willing to take the free ride home so they can get home and visit family & when they want to return, just do the same thing as last time.

Like I said, a waste of time and money.

the Immigration department is understaffed , the jails are full , every undocumented knows that ,  Joe's contract was not renewed because it was costing way too much , there is several representatives from AZ who were against the undocumented but now want a guess worker program once they saw the results . because of all of this Operation Scheduled Departure is just as lame as the idea of deporting all the undocumented ...

Will there be a backlash if they do not accept !??? with whose money !??? if people are having second thoughts already about them being deported then the backlash from going for all enforcement would be regrettable for all the senators and representatives who want it .

Actually, this is an uncommonly good deal for anyone who has absconded or ignored court orders for deportation.  If they do not take advantage of this opportunity and leave, they can be arrested and serve prison terms for contempt of court before they are deported.  With the contempt of court prison sentence, they will never be allowed back in, whereas with using this program, they might be able to apply for immigration once they serve their bar.

If they have children, they can take their kids with them and keep the family together; otherwise, the kids will be left here and they can have parental rights terminated for child abandonment.

If they have property, etc. they can sell it and take the funds home.  Otherwise, all money and property can be confiscated.

Any illegal alien with half a brain will take this brief chance to leave.  Those who do not take it while they can must be prepared for a very stringent crack-down with long prison sentences and immigration detention as soon as this program ends.
