Question:

"Porcelain finish" with makeup - which foundation?

I have tried many lines of cosmetics and have yet to find something that provides that smooth, porcelain look. I had my makeup done once professionally in Chicago, and it looked amazing, so I know it's possible. Unfortunately both myself and the cosmetologist were in such a hurry that I didn't get a chance to ask what she used. Any recommendations for some top-of-the-line products that have achieved this look? Don't want to look caked, but would like a smooth, even appearance. Thanks so much!

  1. Chanel!

and bare minerals for a lighter look

  2. First of all, try using a primer. I love Smashbox Photo Finish - it makes my skin look airbrushed with or without foundation.

I've had good luck achieving the 'porcelain finish' using the following products:

bare Escentuals bare Minerals, spf15 foundation and Mineral Veil.

Chanel Teint Innocence, either the cream foundation applied with a sponge or the liquid applied with a foundation brush.

any mousse-type foundation (I think Maybelline does one).

    Good luck!

  3. High definition make-up should help you a lot. you can choose the brand "make up forever high def makeup" they are usually used for screens n photography but looks amazing in real life too.just picture perfect.

  4. I would suggest getting a  light colored cream foundation in your skin tone and set it with a white powder.

You can also use a baby powder to set.

  5. When I think of "procelain" I think of the lightest shade of foundation that you can buy, which is often the shade that I wear. Since foundation looks best when it matches your natural skin tone, I wouldn't recommend buying a porcelain shade unless you have porcelain skin.

On the other hand, if by"porcelain" you are referring to the finish that a porcelain doll might have, then you'll want to buy a light coverage liquid matte foundation (which will be free of shine) if you have normal skin, or a medium coverage if you have some blemishes or uneven pigmentation. I would also recommend that you use some transluecent powder to "set" the foundation, which will give it a flawless finish.

First, buy a foundation in a shade that matches your skintone. Before you apply it, cleanse your face and apply a foundation primer, which will create a good base for your foundation. Next, apply the liquid foundation to your face with your fingertips, which will ensure that you apply the makeup evenly to all the contours of your face. Finally, use a large kabuki brush to apply transluecent powder all over your face.
