"Rachel is a cat when they utter a pitiful meow" do you think this is a good metaphor?

I just want to know if this is a good metaphor? if not can you help me to make it better?

  1. It's not good English.  Neither Rachel or a cat can be described as "they".

    When she doesn't get her way, Rachel is an cat with its claws out.

    You and I must know the same Rachel!  :-)


  2. A metaphor is a comparison of the similarities between two completely different things.

    By wording it the way you did, how do I not know that Rachel is not the cat's name?

    Try this:

    "Rachel is like a cat uttering a pitiful meow."

  3. Rachel is a cat with a pitiful meow.

  4. Grammatically it should be "Rachel is a cat whe it utters a pitiful meow."
