I know what you mean--I notice that our Sears seems dead sometimes, though not always.

But really Sears is THE PLACE to buy appliances!  I bought my refrigerator, washer and dryer, stove and garbage disposal there.  My dishwasher, I bought at Montgomery Ward, but now I'd probably get it at Sears if I bought a new one.

Also, tools sell really well there.  So maybe it depends on what people are looking for at the time.
