Question:

"Shared Risk" for IVF Treatment...Would you go for it?

There is a bunch of clinics now offering this so called "Shared Risk Refund Program for IVF Treatment". That means you pay a flat fee (around $ 25,000) and have the right to get 6 IVF procedures, until you get pregnant. Or if you don't fall pregnant, they will give your money back... Would you do it? Is this a smart move? ... Or you would try IUI first, in case of low sperm motility? Thanks

  1. If low sperm motility is the only hold-up then I would try IUI first.  We have the same issue (low motility and count) and my Dr. suggested we try 3 rounds of IUI before trying IVF because IUI is usually pretty successful as long as the woman is ovulating fine.

  2. it really depends on your case, in some cases i really think so many IVFs shouldn't be pushed on you if not needed, but in some cases if they're needed then it's a good program to save $$ vs. paying for every single cycle...

is the case just sperm motility? if so and you ovulate on your own and there are no age factors you could consider aggressive IUI's first...like with injectables but talk to your doc more about this and ask all the questions you need to ask,

you can also ask an RE online for free for advice and find others who are going through similar situation for advice as well, try fertilityties.com

    good luck!!
