What can you do to relieve your eye when it feels like there's something there but there isn't? I had something in my eye last week, and a few times a day I start to feel it there again. I've rinsed, checked it for eyelashes or spots and tried crying. there is simply nothing there anymore, I think it's just a scratch left from something that was there.

I'm not a big fan of eye doctors, even if it is the best thing. I already know they'll try to help and probably give me eye drops.

  1. this gritty feeling is due to the dry eye with or without infection, like or not consult your eye doctor

  2. You have scratched your eye.  It is best to use some drops, preferably some that are quite viscous.  This will help heal the epithelium, the outermost layer of skin that is scratched.  Dont rub it.  If possible, put a patch on it for a day or two to stop yourself from rubbing it.  If it does not go away, you will have to see your optometrist.  If the scratch it deep you may need a bandaid contact put in.  Keep good care of it.  Good luck:)

  3. you probably scratched it. Try some eye drops for a few days if it keeps bothering you or you start having a discharge go to your regular doctor they should be able to handle it

  4. If you had something in your eye last week, there should be no further irritation unless it has remained there. Superficial scratches to the cornea heal within 24 hours.

Sometimes a tiny speck of grit or other foreign material gets under the tarsal plate. While some people can successfully evert their eyelids to expose the tarsal plate, most find it difficult. Any decent family physician can put a drop or two of anesthetic in the eye, wait a few minutes, evert the lid and inspect the plate. The doc can also readily see if there are any scratches on the cornea resulting from a foreign body.

If this exam were negative, a slit lamp exam from an eye specialist is the next procedure. Your eyes are your most important sense. For heavens sake, don't risk eye trouble because of dislike of eye doctors. Good ones are plentiful.

  5. if you feel "something " is stuck in your eye, do this: if the problem is your left eye, pinch your right nostril and blow hard through your left nostril;if your problem is your right eye, pinch your left nostril and blow hard through your right nostril. This will definitely dislodge that "something" in your eye.

  6. ask a doctor
