By serendipity this afternoon I came across something so incredibly beautiful it reminded me of this quote from American Beauty. In your travels or your day-to-day life have you ever been somewhere or witnessed something so extremely beautiful it felt almost overwhelming? If so, please share a bit about the experience.

Thx. : )

  1. Yes, I have. Unfortunately I quickly forget those moments :(

  2. God never gives you more than you can handle. It takes a letting go of fear and blame to allow ecstasy to arrive.

  3. This is cheesy - but when I look at my kids.

  6. Yes, and I carry the memory, as fresh and whole today as it was 30 plus years ago.

I was lucky to live for a time in Hawaii. The night sky there is absolutely incredible. With no diffuse light from cities, on the north shore of Oahu, at night, it was like sitting among the stars, being part of the sky. This one particular night, the full moon was so huge, so bright, that I couldn't stop myself from wandering closer and closer to the water, I was so unaware of where I was, so full of the moon. The big difference was...this particular night, there was a sparkling ring around the moon. It looked like billions of diamond chips just glittering and shooting off blue-white sparks. Inside that ring, you could clearly see the "morning" sky...a sky so blue, so perfect, with just the featherfluff hint of clouds, that it looked liked someone had painted it there. I've never seen anything so completely beautiful, so extraordinary.
