My 11 year old sister wants to get either "Super Mario Bros 3" or "Super Mario World" for the VC.

Which one is more fun, but more importantly, which game has save places?

  1. Personally, i would go with super mario world. THat game has better save places plus it is more original and different. U can get super mario bros 3 on the GBA.

  2. world

  3. I own both on VC and I NEVER play Super Mario Bros. 3 anymore. Because Super Mario World, is 10 times better, but it is more expensive, so if you can't get SMW get SMB3.

  4. I have played both of these games extensively, and they're both amazing. Super Mario World only has save points at every boss, or about every 6 levels. Super Mario Bros. 3 is the same way I believe.

As for more fun, its really hard to say. World is a bit easier than Bros. 3, but both are very fun. if your sister likes games like the original mario bros. better than other platformers, then I would choose World cause its more conventional platformer.

  5. super mario world!

    its fun!

  6. SMB3 is the epitomy of Mario games.  Nothing has come close to topping it.

  7. I would suggest Super Mario World.  Unless she's already very experienced in the platform genre, I think she might find SMB3 frustrating, as it can be a little more difficult.  That's speaking from my own experience playing the games when I was around the same age (but everyone is different).

Both games have their advantages; neither is obviously better than the other.  Some would argue (as I think some have already here) that SMB3 is the best there was and will be, and I can understand that, but I don't really agree.  SMW just has a lot more features (Yoshi, for one) and fun secrets (lots of secret paths, and don't forget Star Road) that I felt made it a much more interesting game.  Also, since it was on the Super Nintendo rather than the original NES, the graphics are much prettier and cleaner.

They are both truly excellent games.  To be honest I would suggest you get both, if you could, but my choice - if it must be only one - would unquestionably be Super Mario World.

And to answer your other question; as others have said you are able to save in both games.  And of course, playing on the Wii, you can quit the game by returning to the Wii Menu with the Home button and it will keep your game "paused" indefinitely (that is, when you next play it, you're doing exactly what you were when you last closed it), so you can save that way, too.

I hope she has fun with it!
