For people who have read the book:

I was just wondering, has anyone ever felt the way Holden did in this book?? Not wanting to grow up,wanting everything to remain static and remembering how people were when they were children??

Oh,and did ye like the book??

Just a curious teen here.....

  1. Well, you know what they say, there's a kid in all of us.

Answering your question, I think we all do, at some point at least.

I mean growing up isn't always that easy, but sometimes you just have to even if you don't "want" to.

I liked the book...the ending was nice and the story actually makes you think of life in a way.

  2. I side with the two previous answerers, although I cannot give them thumb-ups for lack of personal points. Yes, there are many adults around you who only pretend to be grownups (to hide the kid within). There are not many mature personalities in the adult world.

There's a few suggestions for your further reading:

    N. Hornby. High Fidelity.

    Th.A. Harris. I'm OK - You're OK.

  3. Sure, I identified with Holden Caufield, to some extent.  Most boys totally understand at least some of his points of view.

I don't think I ever wanted to just stay the same, like him but, I do remember having apprehensions about growing up.  I didn't exactly love the book, the first time I read it, but I understood more of the little things the second time reading the book, and really enjoyed it.  Growing up can be tough.  Sometimes it stunk, thinking about how eventually, I'd have to start a career, and live a life filled with much more responsibility than i had in school.
