"The Greatest Show on Earth"?

Hi guys, ah back. Ah back and ah want some answers! Allyuh find Trinbagonians does show off?! Is T&T Carnival worthy of boasting about?! To all who have been to other Carnivals, what makes T&T's Carnival the Greatest Show on Earth?

"The Greatest Show on Earth" is a term WE created.  NO other carnival is even remotely close to the beauty, creativity and talents we have.............unless we Trinis influences it........They just can't touch us!

Well I mean... what you expect it to say "well maybe not the greatest show on earth but we a proud coutnry so we'll say so anywayz, besides it's pretty up there"

I think it is one of the best... I've been to a couple other carnivals and they don't compare... besides.... since pan and mroe or less soca really orginated from here, that's why we could afford to say so.

Only thing I can say that is more reknowned is Rio de Jinero's Carnival.....

Jaz girl, yuh know we trinis just bias about we own. but

the fact of the matter is that our carnival has boiled down to bikini and beads and 2 feathers.  That is not to say that the atmosphere leading up to and during Carnival has no rival eh.  but you see carnival through in some other countries and some of the customes are simply breath taking.  and you ask yourself, why?

Is it that the mas bands are trying to do too much? ie too many free things with your custome thus only allowing them to create a bathsuit with beads and feathers on your head?  I mean, a few years ago when you got your costume, it was a costume, yuh standard and your head piece.  walk with your cup and money.  and of course it wasnt as expensive.

now you getting yuh costume, ah separate baby Ts and boy shorts / tshirt and short pants for monday, bandana, cup with string for around your neck, and a whole bag of "extras" and of course d costume is smaller than ever adn d price rising each year.

now people, dont mind me eh, i just wanted to vent lil bit. i know people who all now so starting to go into withdrawal for dey carnival, fuss they love it.  and Carnival is a major source of entertainment for me also, feathers, beads and all.

Trinidad's being the 'original' will obviously be the best.  My cousin went to the one in NY last year and she had a blast.

I also heard that the Carnival in Rio is fantastic.  I would love to go once just to compare.  I have heard that one described as "The Greatest Show on Earth".  I wonder who started that phrase.

I have been to quite a few carnivals(that are actually based on Trinbago

's carnival) Caribana in Toronto is second(in my opinion) to T&T but a very far second. Nothing like Trinidad's carnival, the atmosphere alone leading to the actual carnival is just as exciting as the carnival itself. Boston, NYC, Miami, Washington  really don't do carnival justice at all.
