  1. Terms of Endearment and Beaches! Oldies but goodies!

  2. P.S. I Love You, What Dreams May Come, The Pianist,

  3. Don't forget My Girl!! When Thomas J. dies, it's SO sad!

  4. here are probably the most saddest in the world

    p.s i love you

    bridge to terabithia

  5. Romeo and Juliet (1968) with Olivia Hussey

In these next two, the entire dialogue is sung:

West Side Story (1961) with Natalie Wood, a more modern take on the Romeo and Juliet theme.

Les Parapluies de Cherbourg (1964, French, The Umbrellas of Cherbourg), complete with Catherine Deneuve and the hauntingly beautiful music that you've heard in elevators a thousand times.

Splendor in the Grass (1961) with Natalie Wood and introducing Warren Beatty

The Blue Angel (1930, German)  Marlene Dietrich's performance as femme fatale Lola Lola got the world to take notice of her.

Jules et Jim (1962, French) One of Truffaut's best.

I don't think these were written as tearjerkers, but many wept in the audience for these:

    The Green Mile (1999)

    Million Dollar Baby (2004)

    The Sixth Sense (1999)

Any boy is allowed to cry over Old Yeller (1957).

And grown men are allowed by law to cry during The African Queen (1951), when (Katharine Hepburn's) sanctimonious Rose Sayer pours (Humphrey Bogart's) Charlie Allnut's entire stock of Beefeater gin into the water.
