  1. Hey, I just watched it and I was confused too! So I did some researching and gathered some ideas that make sense. Its not super obvious in the movie but once you start thinking about it it makes sense totally...

I think Uma Thurman's character is the one that actually died in the school shooting when they were young. She sacrificed herself for her friend and all the scenes of her as an adult was like her life flashing though her eyes...thus the movie name...life before her eyes.

That's why on the end she tells that girl at the school memorial that she is not one of the survivors. And that's why also when her and her friend see all those white crosses with children's names, one of them says "Emma" which is her daughter in the flash - the child she actually aborted. The child that tells her she hates her and is always running away - because its a child she never had or wanted.

Also, we see the professor who is supposedly her husband, because she imagines him to be, even tho he looks exactly the same back then and in the future. And we see her telling her friend that she kept calling him and he never calls her back.

Anyway that's what I think. Hope this helped you figure some things out! :) I like movies that make you think, but this one was really a thinker! Now that I get it I like it even more!
