  1. this is from Anthony's speech occasioned by ceaser's burial. with this line he tries to be ironic talking about the tyrant killed by Brutus, the new hero of Rome.

    "Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your ears;

    I come to bury Caesar, not to praise him.

    The evil that men do lives after them;

    The good is oft interred with their bones;

    So let it be with Caesar."

    it is this irony precisely that manipulates the mind the people, and in the end they hale ceaser's name. it is shown here that Anthony was a master of rhetorics. the masses hated caesar, he was the image of tyranny, Brutus was their liberator, was now the time of praising ceaser? of course not, so the irony does its part, julius caesar will be remembered by his bad deeds anyway, says anthony....but surprise, surprise, the Romans came to realize they can't bury the good of caesar with his bones, and anthony's speech was the trigger.

    i think mark a uses these ancient proverbial philosophy with a hidden agenda, and its meaning is somehow out of the context here, when it comes to julius caesar's achievements.

  2. It simply means that people are more quickly remembered for the mistakes they made, and the wrong they did, rather than for anything good they accomplished.  For instance, Adoph Hitler did a lot to unify the German people, and they followed him willingly at first, but he is remembered for the evil Third Reich and the associated atrocities that occurred under his "leadership".

    Hope this helps!

  3. .....this is like a research paper,

    it needs a lot of hard work

    better you do it yourself.
