I like the quote a lot.  It's paradoxical, yet at some gut level I feel that it's true.

Probably because there are slightly different meanings to "obvious" that apply to the first part of the quote and the conclusion.  What's "obvious" or should be obvious is not always what people are paying attention to; sometimes it takes a 2nd or 3rd look to see what should be obvious.
