Is "There is an artist in everyone" a philosophy?

And if you can explain how to discern philosophies from statements, much appreciated.

  1. Art contains the philosophical discipline called "aesthetics." All art contains it even if the artist knows nothing about the discipline. It's like talking; everyone uses grammar and syntax, perhaps very imperfectly if he/she knows none of the rules; but they use it anyway in the act of speaking.

Artists use aesthetics, perhaps very imperfectly if he/she knows none of the rules; but they use it anyway in the act of creating that art.

I would not, however, agree with the statement that an artist exists in everyone. I understand aesthetics. That does not mean I can draw so much as a proper outline of a car or a house, let alone paint a face or write a sonnet or a symphony.

  2. what is art? but the invocation of our feelings onto a visible medium. art to me is the human mind working in a rational manner, i can do math, science, and think. i believe the engineering marvels of buildings is art. To others paintings and music is art. we make our own art for ourselves and admire the hard work of other people. its not a philosophy, its your viewpoint and definition of what art is i guess,
