  1. I would recommend a Ninja 500 or GSX650F as a first bike.  Sounds like you are looking for a used bike.  Most bikes that have been in accidents will show obvious damage, check the frame for dents/new welds.  If the bike was repaired and has a clean title then it makes no difference if its been in an accident.  The value for money is totally up to what you are willing to pay and supply/demand in your region.  Pick out a few models you are interested in and a price range, then do searches on ebay, craigslist and cycle trader.com to see what those models are selling for, I've bought and sold on ebay several bikes.  The quality, I think you mean if its in good shape or not as most Japanese bikes are high quality.  You want to check the tires, rust if not garage kept, brake fluid color, chain tension, make sure the bike goes straight without vibration or wobble, check suspension, have a mechanic inspect the bike before final purchase.  Most people who own motorcycles take very good care of their bikes, but alot of salvage bikes make their way on the for sale boards.

  2. I have been riding Bikes now for well over 30 Years and can say without doubt you should not get a 600cc as your first Bike in any case if you live in the UK you will not be able to ride it until such time as you have passed your test I suggest you take a look at this link it will tell you all you need to know about the law and Motorcycles

  3. For a first bike I would not be getting a 600cc but something smaller with less power.  If you don't know anything about bikes pay a mechanic to check the bike out as all  may look good but a lot can be wrong.  You need someone to check if the oil is clear as if it isnt dont buy the bike.  Check the frame for cracks ect.  It is better to spend a little on getting someone who knows to check the bike than to buy a stuffed bike

  4. Get whatever you're comfortable with, I got a GSXR600 after passing my test and it's been fine.

As far as checking it over, i would get a mechanic or someone who knows what they're looking for to take a look at it.

  5. dont by a 600 if you never were even on a bike before

  6. My husband got a Suzuki SV650 for his first bike, but he passed his test first and had a few advanced lesson. He also had a lot of experience on a motocross bike.
