I got interested in Friedrich Nietzsche's book from little miss sunshine. Is Thus Spoke Zarathustra a good book to start with? also is there a site where you can read the book online? is the book very long?

  1. Thus Spoke Zarathustra is considered his magnum opus, which means it's sort of a culmination of his life's work. If you're only going to read one Nietzsche book, it should be this one, although you may not understand everything if you haven't read any of his others.

You might be able to get it for free on the gutenberg project (projectgutenberg.com I think). Your library should have it too.

It's not too long for a philosophy book.

I would also suggest looking for "Nietzsche in 90 minutes" to get a brief overview of his philosophy before reading Zarathustra.

  2. so far it is the only Nietzsche book that I've read so I'm not sure if it's a good starting book or not.  It is very good.  I have the version translated by walter kaufmann, and it's about 325 pages long.
