the idea is to guess which team will win the match before the match starts

the tipster gets a score out of 8 (tips they got right) and is compared to other tipsters

the tipster with the most amount of points at the end of the season wins the prize

As Mark says, but with the addition that in some tipping competitions, you also have to pick the winning points margin for one or more games. The points margin accumulates along with game tipping points and is used to separate tippers who have picked the same number of winners.
